Rogue Valley Activities

There are numerous ways to explore the Rogue Valley. If you enjoy wine tasting, the Valley is home to over 60 wineries. Whether you have an hour or the entire day to devote to wine, we have recommendations for you. The Bear Creek Boutique Wineries are just minutes from Ashland. You can easily fit in a tasting around an afternoon play. Or take the afternoon and drive to Jacksonville and tour the scenic Applegate Valley Wine Trail. Another favorite wine destination is the Upper Rogue Wine Trail which is northeast of Medford.

If you prefer to spend your day on one of our rivers, we suggest booking a rafting trip. Momentum River Expeditions offers a range of trips whether you are a seasoned whitewater rafter or a first time paddler. Indigo Creek Outfitters also offers personalized trips to suit your needs and skill level.

Drive to Grants Pass and take a Hellgate Jetboat Excursion thru Hellgate Canyon. They offer a variety of trips to suit your schedule.

Crater Lake National Park is just 2 ½ hours from Ashland and is an easy day trip if you start out after breakfast .

The lake (formerly called Deep Blue Lake) is known for its majestic blue color. You may view the lake from the visitor's center or drive the scenic Rim Road which is open during the summer months. In winter, Crater Lake National Park becomes a winter wonderland as they receive over 500 inches of snow.

Our beautiful valley is home to many hiking trails. One of the most popular is the Upper and Lower Table Rocks. These cliff-edged mesas near Medford are a haven for hikers and boast a large variety of wildflowers. Views from the top extend across the valley.

Another favorite hike is Mount Ashland Meadows which are along the Pacific Crest Trail at Mt. Ashland.

The meadows are home lupine, larkspur, coneflowers, and yarrow to name a few of the flowers you might see on your hike.

If golf is your sport of choice, Eagle Point Golf Course is a half hour drive from the inn. This Robert Trent Jones designed golf course is challenging for all levels of golfers. Closer to Ashland, we recommend the Centennial Golf Course.

In addition to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, the Rogue Valley offers other venues to enjoy theatre and music. The Peter Britt Festival, located in Jacksonville, entertains you with a variety of musical acts in their outdoor venue. Take in a play at the Camelot Theatre in Talent or a show at the Craterian Theatre located in Medford.

The surrounding area is home to many gourmet food companies. The Rogue Creamery has won numerous awards for their fabulous cheese. Lillie Belle chocolates is located next to the Creamery.
